Nevada Trip

I decided just before we left to Lovelock that Israel needed a haircut. It was his first, and though I didn't cry, I did put all his little hairs in a ziplock bag to keep forever. Here he is looking dapper:

And here he is having a little rest with his dad. So sweet.

The rest of these pictures are of our trip and are not in any particular order. It kind of drives me nuts having to cut and paste each picture into its proper place, so we'll all just have to take them as they come. Here's Israel with a black cat in honor of the season.

He is always, always climbing these days and gets himself into some strange and hilarious predicaments.

We love to jump in Hiram's old truck and just go driving around in the desert for hours on our trips. Israel is happy because once we get onto the dirt roads, I get him out of his car seat and let him play on my lap until the wild, jarring ride puts him out cold. I just thought this picture turned out kind of cool.

There are quite a few natural hot springs within easy driving distance of my in-laws' home. Hiram thought it would be cool to check one out. When we got to this one that someone nicely made into a decent size hot tub in the middle of nowhere we thought we'd skinny dip for a bit until we dipped our toes in and discovered that it was BOILING HOT! We were not too disappointed. We thought it would have been a cool experience, but neither one of us wanted much to smell strongly of sulfur the rest of our drive.

Here Israel is giving one of the about a million cats on the ranch a love.

And here he's trying to escape the nasty raven that Hiram's little sister adopted as a baby. Makes for a cool Halloween pic.

The next six pictures we took at a cool, little ghost town Hiram took us to yesterday. I love this sweet truck. We could be Bonnie and Clyde.






Here are a few of the wild donkeys we came across.

And a cool oasis in the middle of all this dry terrain.

The desert is really very beautiful. I love it.

Salt flats. We want to take our black car out here before we go home and see how fast we can go. Hiram has gotten her up to 125, but I think we can do better than that.
